6-Week Online Songwriting Course

Tools, Prompts, and Community for Songwriters at Every Level

Connect with fellow writers in a six-week journey of inspiring instruction, hands-on writing prompts, and optional peer feedback—all from the comfort of your home. This course is designed to nourish your creativity, sharpen your craft, and provide a supportive space to explore and grow as a songwriter.

Whether you’re just beginning your songwriting journey, returning after a pause, or writing regularly and looking to deepen your skills, you’ll find encouragement, structure, community, and fresh inspiration here. Each session offers practical tools, thoughtful guidance, and the freedom to engage with the material at your own pace.

Course Length: 6 sessions, 1 hour each


Course Objectives

By the end of this course, you will:

  • Learn both foundational and advanced tools for lyric writing

  • Explore rhyme types, song structure, and creative development

  • Build a consistent writing habit through fun, low-pressure prompts

  • Gain encouragement and insight through optional peer feedback

  • Grow in confidence and clarity as a songwriter


What to Expect Each Week

Each 60-minute session includes:

  • A brief recap and optional homework sharing

  • A mini-lesson focused on a key lyric-writing concept or tool

  • A creative writing prompt with quiet in-class writing time

  • Optional group sharing and peer feedback

  • A weekly homework prompt to continue your writing between sessions

Note: Students are welcome to add melody, chords, or instrumentation on their own, but musical composition will not be part of the instruction. This course focuses on lyric writing.


Who Can Join

This course is open to adult songwriters of all experience levels, from curious beginners to seasoned writers.

  • If you’re a current private student of Libby Nation Music, this course is designed to complement your regular lessons. To participate, you’ll need to maintain your ongoing private lesson enrollment throughout the 6-week course.

  • If you’re not currently enrolled in lessons, you’re still welcome to join!

    I’m excited to welcome a broader community of writers into this experience as space allows.

Note: Enrollment is limited. If the course reaches capacity, priority may be given to current students.


Tuition & Enrollment

Course Tuition: $150 (covers all 6 sessions)

  • Payment will be charged only after minimum enrollment is confirmed

  • Tuition is non-refundable and will not be prorated for missed sessions

  • Enrollment Deadline: May 31, 2025

  • Minimum Enrollment Required: 6 students

  • If fewer than 6 students pre-register, the course will be postponed until the fall session


Course Policies

  • For adult writers only

  • Tuition is non-refundable and not prorated for missed sessions

  • Instruction focuses on lyrics (not music or melody)

  • Students will be billed only after 6-student minimum is met

  • Peer feedback is always kind, constructive, and optional

  • Please ensure a stable internet connection and quiet Zoom environment

To pre-register, simply complete the short form below by May 31.

This form is just to indicate your interest and hold your place. No payment is required at this stage.

If minimum enrollment is reached, I’ll follow up with a separate registration form to collect payment and finalize enrollment.

The course will begin on June 3 once registration is complete.
